Railway TTE (Travelling Ticket Examiner) Salary 2026

Travelling Ticket Examiners are recruited through RRB NTPC into Level 3–4 of the pay matrix, with Level 4 carrying an entry basic pay of ₹25,500. Under the 8th Pay Commission, a TTE's basic pay is projected at about ₹65,500 at 2.57x and roughly ₹73,000 at 2.86x, plus DA, HRA, transport allowance and trip allowance for on-board duty.

Duties

  • Check tickets and reservations on board and regularise excess fare
  • Allot vacant berths, assist passengers and record occupancy charts
  • File on-board irregularity reports and coordinate with the guard

Allowances & perks

  • Trip allowance / TA for out-station on-board duty and rest periods
  • Uniform allowance, railway quarters or HRA, pass and medical facility
  • Night duty allowance for scheduled overnight runs

Promotion path

TTE → Senior TTE → Head TTE → Travelling Ticket Inspector → Chief Ticket Inspector.
