Loco Pilot Salary 2026
Assistant Loco Pilots (ALP) start in Level 2 of the 7th CPC pay matrix and progress to Loco Pilot (Goods, Passenger, Mail/Express) at Level 4–6. Under the 8th Pay Commission, a Loco Pilot's basic pay is projected to rise from ₹35,400 to around ₹1,01,000 at a 2.86x fitment factor.

Duties
- Operate goods, passenger and mail/express trains safely across zones
- Follow signals, speed limits, and route protocols end-to-end
- Perform pre-departure locomotive inspections and log book entries
