Educational qualification
- Junior Engineer-I: full-time four-year B.E. / B.Tech. / AMIE degree in the respective engineering discipline from a recognised university.
- Junior Accountant: graduation in Commerce or Business Administration, or Inter CA / ICWA, or MBA, or a minimum two-year M.Com, along with a recognised computer qualification.
- Junior Assistant / Commercial Assistant-II: Senior Secondary (12th) pass with a recognised computer qualification such as RSCIT, O-Level or COPA.

RVUNL salary 2026 — pay matrix level and probation pay
Selected candidates are first engaged as Probationer Trainees for two years on a fixed monthly remuneration. After successful completion of probation, pay is fixed at the minimum of the applicable pay matrix level, and all allowances of the respective Vidyut Nigam become payable.

Selection process and exam pattern
Junior Engineer-I and Junior Accountant
- One Computer Based Test of two hours with objective (MCQ) questions only.
- Part-A carries 60% weightage — degree-level subject questions of the engineering discipline for JE, and Corporate Accounting, Income Tax, Cost Accounting, Auditing and Management Accounting for Junior Accountant.
- Part-B carries 40% weightage — Reasoning & Mental Ability, Mathematics, General Knowledge & Everyday Science, Hindi General and English General.
- Negative marking applies for every wrong answer.
Junior Assistant / Commercial Assistant-II
- Phase-I Pre-Examination — screening only, with no weightage in the final merit and no negative marking.
- Phase-I Main Examination — objective CBT with negative marking, contributing 40% weightage to the final merit.
- Phase-II Typing Test — Hindi and English typing on computer (speed test and efficiency test), contributing 60% weightage.
For all posts the minimum qualifying marks are 30% for Unreserved candidates and 20% for SC / ST / BC / MBC / EWS / Ex-servicemen / PwBD candidates. Except the Hindi General and English General sections, the question papers are bilingual.
